I found a death notice in the Boston Globe, for a 59 year old William H White dying on Jan 19, 1883 "in this city."
Two problem (really two sides of the same problem): I have my WHW dying in Charlestown and another notice that day explicitly says the decedent died in C'town. Inconsistent style at the Globe? misreporting? my earlier pod is wrong ( Read more... )

Looking at the 1880 Census, the Cambridge WHW is 60 y.o. and married to a Louisa R
My guy is 56 y.o., married to Lucy A., and living on Main Street in Charlestown.
Ah well

A step closer to resolving a mystery of my 3x great grandfather's Civil War service, specifically why he was transferred from his line regiment to the VRC:
according to List of Pensioners on the Rolls as of January 1,1883: a William H White of Cambridgeport had been receiving an $8 a month pension since 12 Oct 1880 for an abdominal injury ( Read more... )

On my great uncle Andy's arrival listing (Boston, May 1921), he gives "Aunt Ivan Anna, Nova Ves" as his nearest relative in the old country. looking at the 1890 Associated Railway Land Department map, I'm guessing that Madam's great grandfather took the Georgia Southern from Valdosta, GA. to Jasper, FL and the Florida Southern thence to Ocala
